Old Feelings

I finished a book the other day that dealt a lot with organ donation. I don't want to give away the name of the book so that in case anyone wants to read it they will not know which one it is. If you want to know then email me and I will tell you.

Anyways the feelings that I got at the end of the book were the same feelings that I had almost three years ago on November 14, 2006 when Kayden received his transplant. We received a deceased donor kidney. Someone's child had to die in order for my child to live. Some family was mourning in the other room while I was celebrating in our room. There were so many bittersweet emotions that were going on.

I will never be able to fully express the feelings that I had that day and have someone understand them unless they have been through a similar situation. I look at Kayden in amazement. I see him doing things that I never imagined and it is all because of a donated kidney.

Did you see the news report the other day about the man and his donor's family meeting? It was a very good report. That donor helped so many people. What a wonderful gift they gave.
