Green Power Ranger, Prayers, and Scriptures....

The last couple of nights Kayden has wanted to say the prayer for our family prayers. As he is saying the prayer he blesses each of us and then he says "Bless Kayden that he will be a Green Power Ranger". He is so cute. He makes me laugh all of the time he has such a great sense of humor already at such a young age.

I got out the summer clothes that were in storage and Koy is in pretty good shape regarding clothes. It is Kayden and Lexi that are going to be needing some soon. At this point in the game I will be shopping at Walmart since that is only place that I can afford. With gas prices going up and the cost of food going up I can't afford to shop anywhere but Walmart or the D.I.

At Women's Conference it was stressed over and over to do personal scripture study and personal prayer everyday and I began that today. I have already felt the spirit and the guidance of the Lord in my life today. I was hesitant to write about this on my blog because it is a little personal and I wasn't sure if I really should, but then I thought about what Sister Dew said in her speach and how we can influence others. One of the suggestions that she gave was to start a blog and share your experiences and share the gospel with others who may be struggling. You never know when the Lord is using you to do His work. After thinking about this I decided to share my experience.

I was feeling very frustrated with the prospect of moving to Salt Lake and how we would be able to make ends meet and finding jobs and finding a place to live. I kept having this thought in the back of my mind about what I had read about today during my scripture study. I was reading in Ether about when the Lord was telling the Brother of Jared about how he needed to make sure that they remember to pray and ask the Lord what things needed to be done and ask the Lord how to do things. I know that the Lord knows what things me and my family need, but he isn't going to just give it all to me without me asking for his help. He is wanting me to do my part and then he will step in and help once I have done all that I can. Before I read my scriptures I also said my personal prayer and asked the Lord to guide me to where I needed to study and what I needed to learn and I feel like my prayers truly were answered.

I know that this won't happen every day, but at least if I read and pray every day I will be able to recognize when the Lord is helping me and guiding me.

I also want to just mention how proud I am of my little family. We will finish the Book of Mormon on Saturday (which is also the day that Lexi gets baptized). It has really made a difference in a few things: 1) we have been very consistent with reading and doing it every night and Kayden and Lexi love to sit on our bed and read. They look forward to it. In fact the other night Kayden was the one that told us that it was time to go and read. He came up to us and said "It is time for Scripture Power" and he held his hand up in the air in a fist showing his muscles. He sings Scripture Power every night when it is time to read. He just loves it. 2) I have been able to tell a difference when we read and when we don't read. The contention isn't as strong when we read compared to when we don't read. 3) Lexi has grown so much from reading with us and her reading ability has improved drastically. She also LOVES to read and tries to read more than the few verses we ask her to read. I also love that she asks questions. If she doesn't understand something she will ask about what it means. I truly feel like she is trying to understand what is going on while we are reading. I also try to point out things to her as we read so that she will be able to understand what is going on.
