The Quacky

We took a little trip up the canyon to Joes Valley one night to see it going over the spill way. Joes Valley is a reservoir that is about 30 minutes away from where my parents live. It is a man made lake and it is beautiful. At one end of the reservoir there is what looks like a big "drain" so that when the lake gets too full it can go over the spill way and not bust the dam. This allows the water to go down the river through our little town, down through the desert and then eventually meet up with the Colorado River. It is really cool to see the water go over the spill way. Some years the lake doesn't fill up and the water never goes over, but then there are some years when the water will spill over the "drain" and that is really exciting.

On our way up there we found this running in the road

This cute little "quacky" (as Kayden calls it) was running up the road a long way away from its mommy. We knew that it was lost and so Josh got out and caught it and we brought it home for the night and then the next morning we took it to the vet so that they could find it a mommy.
Here are some pictures of Joes Valley and the "drain".
