Where Did You Get Your Kidney?

As most of you know Kayden had a kidney transplant almost 2 years ago. (I can't believe it has really been that long!) We went swimming today and Kayden is not shy to run around without a shirt and show off his button and his battle wounds that he has on his belly. To him it is just a normal way of life. As I sit here I am actually very proud of him for not being shy about it. To him it is just how it is. He knows that he has one and that other kids don't have one and he doesn't ask questions.

While we were at the swimming pool today, Kayden did not want to get in the pool. He sat there on the side and watched and was still having fun just watching and hanging out. There was a guy that was doing flips into the water and Kayden thought it was really cool. Kayden isn't shy with people and he loves talking to others. This guy came up and was talking to Kayden and had asked if he had surgery and said that he had just gotten out of the hospital and wanted to know what Kayden had done. Kayden told him it was a kidney transplant, and the guy said that was cool and asked Kayden where he got the kidney and Kayden replied....."Um.... (with this serious thinking look on his face) the Hogle Zoo." Kayden was DEAD SERIOUS! I cracked up laughing so hard. It was the funniest thing in the world. He says some of the funniest things and comes up with some of the most random things. Kayden truly has a sense of humor.

So if you ever get a kidney transplant, find out where your kidney came from to make sure that it didn't come from the Hogle Zoo.
