Meeting BYU Football Team

We had the wonderful opportunity to meet the BYU Football team yesterday. When we arrived they took us on a tour of the staff offices. The walls are painted with pictures of BYU players from the past. We went into the team meeting room and saw where the team meets everyday at 2:10 p.m. for their team meeting. Outside of that room they have a big map on the wall with a line coming from pictures of the players showing where they served their missions.

After seeing that they took us down to the team locker room. That room is HUGE. They have two ping pong tables in there that you can play on, TV's from the ceiling so that they can watch the sports channels and lockers on both sides of the wall. It was amazing.

Next they took us to the Indoor Practice Field where the team was practicing for their game against Wyoming this weekend. The reason that they were practicing in there is because Wyoming has artificial turf and so does the indoor field so they were playing on to get use to playing on the different type of field. We were able to watch them for quite a while. This field house is huge. It is the same size of a football field just indoors. There was a videographer there filming us and asking us questions. He took a lot of footage of Kayden because Kayden was running around and trying to tackle everyone. He started imitating what they players on the field were doing and it was really cute.

When practice was done the whole team met in the middle of the field and circled around and we walked over to them from the side lines. As we were walking over to them the team started to clap for Kayden. I got him to wave and say hello to everyone. Then three of the team members came forward and started to talk to Kayden. Matt Bauman explained to Kayden and the rest of us that they may be football heroes, but to them Kayden and his family were heroes in their eyes because of all the trials that we have been through. They wanted to give Kayden a few gifts. The first one was a team flag that they would all sign for Kayden to take home with him. The second was a little football jersey that I put on Kayden while we were standing there and the third thing that they wanted Kayden to do was to sign their team flag that they carried onto the field with them so that Kayden would be remember as being one of their heroes and a part of their team. After that Terrance Hooks told Kayden that at the end of every practice they huddle up, count to 3 and yell cougars and they wanted Kayden to count to three so they could yell it. He picked Kayden up and held him up high and we counted to three and yelled COUGARS. After that every single player came and gave Kayden a high five and then they also shook my dad's hand and Lexi's hand. Coach Bronco Mendenhall gave Kayden the hat that he was wearing and told Kayden that the hat had brought him a lot of good luck and so he hopes that it would bring a lot of good luck to Kayden also.

It was such a wonderful experience. The guy that was taking the video explained that they showcase this on The Mtn. channel, BYU TV, and CSTV. They are also going to be sending me a copy of the piece so that I can have it. This was the such a good experience and I am so glad that we got the opportunity to do this. As soon as I find anything out about when it airs I will post it here.

Kayden wore his hat and his jersey the whole way home and that is all he has talked about to every single person that he has seen today. He is just so happy with what he was able to do.

So, a big THANK YOU to the BYU Football players, we are your NUMBER 1 fans.
