What is so special about today?

This month I will be reflecting a lot since last year at this time we were going through a lot of things. So today is really just the beginning.

What was happening one year ago today. Nothing much happened at our house, life went on as normal. I was taking care of a not quite 1 month old and Kayden was just hanging out. We had a little bit of a routine with Kayden, he had meds in the morning and meds at night and we would give him his growth hormone shot at night along with his epogen shot twice a week. But this day was a special day.

It was the day that Kayden was officially listed on the national transplant list for his kidney. From this day on, I would jump every time that the cell phone rang. I had to make sure that I had the cell phone with me wherever I went. I was officially waiting for the call to come. Our doctors were saying that as soon as his name was listed that his name would not be on the list for very long for a couple of reasons 1) his blood type was AB meaning he is a universal recipient and can receive an organ from anybody 2) He was a child which gave him "extra" points.

I hope that as we reflect on what was a really important time for us last year that you will get a sense of how wonderful, crazy, and blessed our lives were last year.

I was thinking the SAME thing yesterday, crazy it has been a year since all that happened! Now look at how much BOTH boys have grown. Koy walks around ALL the time and Kayden can't sit still! :) He doesn't need his shots anymore... what a change!
