Eye Witness

What a great time that we live in. I have been an eye witness to four new Prophets and First Presidencies in my life. Today we witnessed a new change in the church and what a marvelous and historical event this was and is. The 16th President of the Church is President Thomas S. Monson, 1st counselor is Henry B. Eyring and his 2nd counselor is Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

These men are spiritual giants and we have so much to learn from them. I remember when I was a young women, probably junior high age, we had a regional conference and we met on the football field and Thomas S. Monson was the General Authority that was assigned to speak and I just loved listening to him. He is so gentle and is the best story teller. I just love listening to him speak. Henry B. Eyring spoke at my graduation from LDS Business College and Josh met President Uchtdorf while he was on his mission in Italy. They are wonderful men and will do a great job in leading the church.

I am sure that some of you are wondering what my new little graph is on the side of the page. Well, I read about a website called Hinckley Challenge. This website is a challenge to member who want to honor President Hinckley by taking on a challenge of reading the Book of Mormon in 97 days. Why 97 days you ask, well that is how old President Hinckley was when he passed away. So if you would like to become a member of this challenge click on the link and it will take you to the page to sign up. When I signed up I was number 11,850. Now there is more than 17,000 people who have signed up for this challenge. If you sign up, leave a comment and we can encourage each other to read everyday and to check the progress of our charts.

I saw this picture on a website and I love it! Just wanted to share it with all of you.

As I have read the tributes to President Hinckley and I have read bits of pieces of his books I have found a few quotes that I love and wanted to share:

"To you women of today, who are old or young, may I suggest that you write, that you keep journals, that you express your thoughts on paper. Writing is a great discipline. It is a tremendous education effort. It will assist you in various ways, and you will bless the lives of many-now and in the years to come, as you put on paper some of your experiences and some of your musings."

"It is so tremendously important that the women of the Church stand strong and immovable for that which is correct and proper under the plan of the Lord. They must begin in their own homes. They can teach it in their classes. They can voice it in their communities. They must be the teachers and the guardians of their daughter. When you save a girl you save generations. I see this as the one bright shining hope in a world that is marching toward moral self-destruction."

"This is a season to be strong. It is a time to move forward without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth, and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what is right regardless of the consequences that might follow. It is a time to be found keeping the commandments. It is a season to reach out with kindness and love to those in distress and to those who are wandering in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good, decent and courteous toward one another in all of our relationships. In other words, to become more Christlike."

"No woman can afford to demean herself, to belittle herself, to downgrade her abilities or her capacities. Let each be faithful to the great, divine attributes that are within her. Be faithful to the gospel. Be faithful to the Church."

"God bless you mothers. When all the victories and defeats of men's efforts are tallied, when the dust of life's battles begins to settle, when all for which we labor so hard in this world of conquest fades before our eyes, you will be there, you must be there, as the strength for a new generation, the ever imporving onward movement of the race."

Just a few of my favorite quotes that I have read so far.

I hope that I will be able to express to my kids as they get older the significance and the importance of what has happened the last few days. That they will know that even though the leader of our church on the earth was gone, the Lord was still in charge and was aware of everything that was going on. He was always the person in charge and it was Him who called and prepared President Monson for being the next person in charge of His church on this earth.

Okay, so you read mine, I read yours!!! Your more than welcome to check in on my life. I love that people take an interest in others without expecting anything in return.
I really enjoyed reading about you and your cute little family. Sounds like you have had to face some real challenges and rely on the Lord a great deal. Arent you glad that we have the Gospel to strengthen us through our challenges in life.
I hope that you don't mind but I borrowed a quote and some pictures from your blogger and added them to mine...I am really impressed with your writting skills. I have never been a journal writer and I can usually tell those that have.
I'm thinking you are one of them.
I love reading blogs that can strengthen my testimony and help me to be a better mother and wife. Thanks for those wonderful quotes that you included in your last entry. I look forward to reading more on you and your Faith.

I hope that you dont mind but I borrowed some pictures and a quote from your blog and put it on mine. I really enjoyed reading your last blog entry on the new Presidency and on President Hinckley. It inspired me to try and do the same, which is really hard for me. I am not good at expressing my feelings in my blog. I generally just stick to the facts of life as it is.
Anyway, look forward to reading more about you and your life.
