I need to say Happy Birthday last Monday to my sister in law, Chantel. I am really late at typing anything and I if you didn't notice I didn't send a card. So I hope that this shout out will be due.
I am hoping that everyone got their taxes in so that they can get the economic stimulus package money that will be sent out this summer which is basically too late to help stimulate the economy and the only thing that will stimulate this stupid economy is doing something about the stupid GAS PRICES!!!! I have major issues about this. I think it is all a conspiracy for the gas companies to just rape all of us so that they can make all the money that they want while they rape those of us who are actually struggling every single stinkin day to make ends meet. I also think it is a way for our local grocery and gas stations around this stupid county to make some money. Anyways I will stop venting about this subject now.
Today was Josh's birthday. We make sure that the kids have a good day for their birthday but we don't do much celebrating for Josh and I. Right now I think we are just going to skip over my birthday this year since I am turning the big 30 and I am having some issues with that right now.
This is my arm that was all wrapped up and it was really irritating and I am so glad to have it off!
I want to put out what my thoughts are on a hot topic that is going on right now with the polygamists in Texas. I feel so bad for the kids and the young girls. I don't feel like this is a religious persecution type thing the early saints suffered. I do think that there is a very fine line as to how things are handled. This group lived in fear. These kids are raised in an environment that teaches these kids that those outside of your religious group, especially government leaders, are out to hurt you and are no good. They are raised in an environment that is so backwards. These young kids and young women are raised in fear and raised being taught that things that are illegal are actually a way of life. Lots of interest has been put on Carolyn Jessops book called Escape. I have not read this book and I am not sure if I could because I would get so mad. But her situation is not uncommon. Her situation is horrible, but she may not be the worst case scenario. We have no clue what other woman, young girls and kids are even going through. The Amish have lived in our society for years without having major disruptions like this in Texas. The main reason is because they are not BREAKING the LAW. This is the biggest reason as to why this group was being raided. I don't know if what they did was actually the best thing but it may have been done as an over reaction to something. Texas is now being faced with a situation of... Now what?
What do we do with all these kids? Where do they go? Do we send them back to the compound? I think that their decisions should be done on a case by case basis and then go from there.
What do you think about this situation?
I am off to bed. I am so glad that I am able to type now......I am recommitting myself to keeping things up to date.

What about the men? Why take the women and children because they "are in a dangerous situation." Who is causing the danger? The men! Let the kids and women go back to their homes and round up the men. The women knew the men were still out there and they would probably be sent back to the compound so how could they speak out? Of course the mothers will say no one is forced into marriage. It is just expected of them, not forced. I just feel sorry for the children.
Tammy, Tammy, Tammy. In the process of your venting about something you obviously don't have a clue about, you have offended me. I work long hours every day to support myself and my family and many other families in what you call “this stupid county." I have never raised my gas prices more than I should to line my own pocket or for any other reason. I am very careful to make sure I am fair, ethical and honest.
The gasoline that I sell to my customers costs me $40,000 for a semi load. I get several loads every month. So the price of fuel affects me too. When I fill up my car at my gas station, I pay the same price for the fuel as you do.
I am not trying to “rape” anyone. I have been in business for 30+ years and have worked very hard to make my “local” gas station a success while competing with large nationwide companies who have a lot more purchasing power than I do. They purchase their fuel at a much cheaper price than I can.
Most of my customers I see on a daily basis and they have been very loyal to me over many years. I appreciate their support of my business and would never dream of taking advantage of that. At the same time, I know they would never accuse me of making money in an unethical manner.
Of course I know young families struggle “every single stinkin day” to make ends meet. Many of my customers need fuel to get to work and are a day or two away from payday. They humbly ask me if they can charge the fuel and I let them. They are very good to come in and pay it as soon as they get paid. They do not take advantage of me and I am not going to take advantage of them.
Your comment here will not affect my business. I willingly put a jar for Kayden in my store, I donated to auctions when you needed funds, I supported you and many, many, many times defended you and your family.
Do I see you walking through my door supporting me, stopping for a drink and a treat as you pass by or defending me on the price of gas? No. Instead, you probably fill up at Maverik, buy your drink there as well and get your pizza from Little Cesar’s as you accuse me, Drew and David of being unethical. Remember who supported you when you needed financial help.
Over the years I have helped countless groups and individuals with donations of food or money. There are banners at most events stating that I am a sponsor. Listen to the radio of local ball games and you will hear BK’s mentioned as a loyal supporter. I have donated stuffed animals to the hospital for the kids there and too many more to even try to list.
I’m not doing it for the accolades. I do it to thank my customers for helping me stay in business for 30 years. As I support their causes they have supported mine. Your family received my support. Have I received yours?
The next time you want to “vent,” please make sure you don’t offend the very ones who have helped you. If your intention was to offend me - mission accomplished. If you didn’t intend to offend me, think before you type.
