Physical Therapy

As I have mentioned in my post about National Organ Donation Month there have been some effects to Kayden's bones because of his kidney failure. He has suffered a hard winter with being sick about every 3 weeks due to the infection that we had no idea about. He also doesn't have a lot of reserves so when he gets sick over and over again it takes a lot out of him. So because of this I feel like he has kind of digressed in areas and I need to start getting his strength built up again.

His bones are really weak and he doesn't have the strength to do a lot of things that he should be doing. For instance, he does not like to color or use a pencil or pen because he does not have the strength in his hands to hold those items and draw or color. He wants to ride a bike so bad, but he does not have the strength in his little legs to get the pedals around in order to ride it. He doesn't hang on things on the play ground like other little kids do. I have also watched him run and have noticed that he swings his hips ALOT and his knees and his feet point out and cross really weird. It is so cute to see him run but I also know that there is something not right. So I know that he is needing additional help.

I am priviledged to have a cousin that is a physical therapist and yesterday when I was doing my therapy I asked them if I could bring Kayden down to have them help him and with Kayden having both Medicare (yes my 3 year old has medicare because he has End Stage Renal Disease and the moment he had his transplant he qualified for medicare for 3 years) and Medicaid we should be able to get a little bit of help during the summer to help increase his strength. They will also be able to help him with his eating issues....but we will save that topic for a later date.

Wow! Your 100th post. That is awesome! And you don't have to go to clinic until June? That is hard to even comprehend! Hopefully you'll not have to come up before then. How soon after Kayden's transplant did he start to walk? Jared is definately taking his own sweet time with that, but who knows, maybe he'll just surprise us one of these days.

Has Jill told you about Hope Kids? It's a program for seriously ill children that is starting a chapter in Utah this summer. Go to hopekids.org to sign Kayden up. It sounds like it will be great.

Have a great day!
