We had a great time out on the desert and I will post more about that later.
I wanted to talk about the fun that we had starting Saturday. Kayden started running a fever and his ear had started draining the day before AGAIN!!! We just got off of an Augmentin the Sunday before and then this started less than a week later. He started running a fever Saturday night and it kept creeping up. During the night it got up to 104. I had talked to transplant earlier in the night and they said to treat the fever for the weekend and then we will try to get a hold of an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor on Monday morning. Well, because his temp got so high during the night we decided to take him up to Primary Childrens on Sunday since this ear thing has been going on WAY too long. (Since January)
We get there and they examine him and decide to run a CT scan because Kayden said "ouch" when the doctor touched behind his ear. This was the first and only time that he said "ouch" and said that it hurt. After running the test and drawing blood (they had to poke him 5 times to get an IV and he cried on every single one saying he wanted to go home and no more pokies). The results came back and he was diagnosed with Mastoiditis. We were admitted to the hospital on Sunday night for IV antibiotics and stayed there until today. They put in a PICC line today and we headed home. Because of the type of infection it is and the side effects it can have they wanted to monitor him for hearing loss and facial paralysis. The infectious disease doctors at the hospital also required him to have IV antibiotics at home for 3-4 weeks.
So at least we are home and Kayden is doing better and we finally have an answer to our ear problems.

I'm glad to hear that you are home now. I hope he is doing better everyday. It is a relief that you know what is causing it so it can be fixed. Glad I got to meet/reconnect you both on Saturday. Good luck- Angel
That poor kid! I hope that he gets feeling better soon!
How frustrating that an ear infection could develope into THAT! At least he's finally on the road to recovery. Oh my goodness...
