I have a couple other subjects that I want to post about some of my thoughts, but it is late and I really want to read an article in my new Ensign that I got the other day. So this is a quick update.
I had made Josh an appointment with an orthopedic doctor to look at his shoulder, but he decided he didn't want to meet withe the doc so I took his appointment instead. I have had a bump that has been growing on my left wrist for about 4 months now and it keeps growing. So I decided to have him look at it. I actually had my brother who is studying to be a doctor look at it while he was here and he told me what I had and suggested I see a doctor about getting it removed if I wanted to. So I took the appointment and the doctor concurred with my brother that it was indeed a ganglion cyst. He said I could a) leave it b)drain it by sucking out the fluid with a syringe or c) surgically remove it. The problem with option B is that there is a 70% chance that it will come back. So I decided to have him surgically remove it. We have schedule the removal to be on April 3
Next, I have been talking about Kayden's poor draining ear. I decided to have his Pediatrician look at him since the Amoxicillan has been going for 3 days and he is still running a fever and doesn't seem to be getting any better. I was pretty sure that the antibiotic wasn't going to work after I talked with my brother, once again (I am starting to think he may know what he is talking about some of the time, but he also worked with some of our favorite kidney doctors who also work with immunosupressed kiddos) and he said that he didn't think that the antibiotics were going to work. So in talking with the Pediatrician and explaining that this problem has persisted for about 2 months give or take a week or two, he decided to actually culture the yucky stuff in his ear (hooray I had asked a couple doctors about doing this) and he also decided to take a sinus xray. He has seen where the child has a really bad sinus infection, or even chronic sinus infections, and the ear drains because of all the gunk. So we went to the good old Castleview (have I mentioned that I hate that place) and they did an xray. The results are in and his right sinus is totally infected and the left one is clear. Which explains the draining out of one ear and not the other. So we are switching antibiotics to Augmentin, starting on some nose spray (any suggestions on how to get a 3 year old to use nose spray I am open to them) and on singulair for 3 months (the antibiotic is only for 10 days). Right now we are on the mild amoxicillan and he is having acid poop and cries every time he gets a messy diaper which is a lot! So we are now switching to a stronger antibiotic and I have started the lactobacillis to combat the acid poop that he is having. Poor kid! I feel so bad for him and also I am so mad at the ER doctor for being so stupid!
So that is a quick update. The others in the family are just fine even though Koy can be a little &@$% . That kid gets into everything and climbs on everything. He is constantly doing something and that is not even an exaggeration.
