Happy Birthday My Little Princess

Today was Lexi's 8th birthday. WOW. She is getting so big. It seems like it was just yesterday that she was this little baby that I brought home from the hospital. Josh and I gave her a set of new scriptures with her name engraved on them and she thought that was pretty cool. She also got a bracelet, a baptism scrapbook, a new pillowcase that she could color, some pencils and a new scripture bag. She was pretty excited all day today.

I remember the day she was born. It was a Thursday and I was actually being induced. When we woke up in the morning we called the hospital and they said that they didn't have any rooms. They called a few hours later and told me to come on up. When I got there they hooked me up to the monitors and started the pitocin. The doctor came in to break my water, but Lexi wasn't down far enough so they decided to wait a few hours. Well around 3 p.m. my water broke on its own and my contractions started coming. They came hard and they came fast.

I was really scared to get an epidural so I tried to go for a while without anything. By 6 p.m. I was ready for the epidural. Just my luck at that time the anesthesiologist was in a c-section and there were a few other people in front of me. So I had to wait. My nurse didn't want to check to see how far along I was until after I had the epidural. Around 7 p.m. I finally got the epidural. My nurse checked me and I was dilated only to a to a 3 and 100% effaced. I was so upset because I had been having really had contractions. I sat there very comfortable for about an hour and then around 8 I told her that I was feeling a lot of pressure. She checked me and I was dilated to a 9 and said that she will call the doctor in a little bit. She was really taking her own sweet time and I kept saying I had a lot of pressure. She gave in and decided to check me after 15 minutes and she said that I was ready to push. I pushed for 45 minutes and Lexi was born around 9 p.m.
She is turning out to be a beautiful young lady and I love her so much. She helped me so much recently with my arm having surgery and my foot being broken. She is willing to do whatever I need her to. She does a lot for the boys and they just love her to death. There is nothing sweeter than a little 3 year old asking where his Lexi is and crying because he wants to play with her and a little 18 month old walking around the house saying "yexi, yexi, yexi". Koy was sitting in on the table in the kitchen today just yelling for Lexi he didn't want anyone else but Lexi. Both of them look up to her so much and I know that she loves them a lot also.

I am so glad to have Lexi in my life. There are times when we truly butt heads, but I love her so much. When I was in the hospital after my surgery and I was so sick, I was laying there wanting to come home so badly. I had my husband taking care of me at the hospital but I wanted to get home so that he could take care of the boys and I wanted to lay in bed and have my Lexi take care of me and love me. She will make a great mother some day and I love her so much. She will be getting baptized in a couple of weeks and I am so proud of her for making that decision. It hasn't been an easy one for her, but she has made a decision that she is happy about. Stay tuned for Lexi's decision on her baptism.

To my sweet baby girl....I love you and I hope you had a great birthday. Love, Mommy.

We are sorry we had to miss Lexi's special birthday, but we will be home on Tuesday. Morgan went around the house singing Happy Birthday to Lexi, and Max just giggled. We are so proud of Lexi and the sweet girl she is. We love her so much. Thanks for letting us share her with you.
