Decisions?????

We are faced with many decisions on a daily basis. Some examples are when do I wake up? what do we eat for dinner? what clothes to wear today? a jacket or no jacket? Some of the decisions I have had to make today are do I stay in bed or move to the couch? When do I go and vote? Who should I vote for? Should I get this at the grocery store? What clothes should I wear today? Should I blog or not? and one thing that has come up after a story on the local news station lastnight is if I should make a blog private or not?

To every question there are good and bad. I made my decision on who I voted for (and no I am not going to say who it was...) I decided to move to the couch which meant I was closer to my kids but it also meant that I was closer to my kids. I decided to not get some items at the grocery store and to wait and I decided on what I was going to wear today. But I have not made up my mind about what to do about my blog. After reading the story I thought back on what I have blogged about and realized that there probably are things that I could do differently in order to protect my family and that is where my thoughts are going. I love having my blog out there and I love having people read it and meeting new people. I love the fact that I can spread our "story" about kidney issues and organ donation and other things that will help others in the same situation as us. That is my main reason for allowing it to stay open to everyone. I have done things to make sure that I know who is coming on my blog, what they are looking at, what they typed in to find me and how long they are there. So as of right now I am not going to make my blog private but take precautions to make sure that my blog is not so easy to find and search. As a parent I want to be able to protect my kids from anything that may harm them, but also as a parent it is my responsibility to teach them how to watch out for themselved and protect themselves since I cannot always be there. To me there needs to be a balance between the two and if I am too overprotective or too lax then that is where the problem can occur. As Lexi has gotten older there are things that we have had to talk about that I did not ever want to have to talk to my daughter about, but kids are smart and if I don't teach her about it or teach my boys about things then they will learn in others ways that I may not approve of.

I suppose you are talking about the piece on KSl last night. It got me thinking as well, but I was not surprised to hear that the person who was stalking her and saying all those things to or about her, was a family acquaintance. I think it is a way that people can "say" what they want with what they believe is really an annonymous profile, when in reality we can check on who they are, or at least the police can. Our sitemeters can tell us where the person is from and we can see how long they hang around. Yes, there is also the chance for something happening, but that is the same chance when you send your kid to school, or to a sport event, or anything. Nothing is completely safe anymore. I still feel safe with my blog, just careful not to be too personal. The same people who might come to my house because they read I was going to be gone, will probably already know if I am gone. They don't need my blog to see if I am around.

Hi Tammy, I just wanted to let you know that I have changed my blog address to: jaredsangels.blogspot.com
I am trying to make things a little bit safer while still allowing mine to be open as well. It sounds like you guys are as busy as ever. Hopefully we will see you soon!

Will you share your secret on how to see who is viewing your blog etc. I am a blog dummy and I can't figure it out. Thanks
