I love watching The View. I love Elisabeth Hasselbeck. I believe in a lot of the same things that she does with the exception of the overwhelming support of John McCain and Sarah Palin. With the amount of enthusiasm that she had I was very interested to see her reaction to the results of the election. I was very impressed with how she handled it. She said that both candidates ran a great campaign and that we are all very privileged to have Barak Obama as our president. She was very gracious and supportive and I hope that a lot of people will look at her example and try to emulate it.
I am so proud to be living in a time when history is being made. We just voted a black person as our president and I think it is wonderful. Wonderful not only for blacks in America but for others as well. We can tell our children that they can achieve their dream if they believe in something and follow that dream. We, as women, can tell our daughters and encourage our daughters to dream and follow those dreams even when people say that they can never be achieved. I am happy to be a part of something that my children will be learning about in their history classes in Jr. High and High School. I remember when I was learning things out of the History Books it was always hard for me to really understand because those things happened so long ago, but we have had many history making events that I will be able to tell my children and grand children about when they are in school. I will be able to convey my feelings about what was happening at that time so that they will be able to better understand the importance and the significance of the event.
Now that we have a new President chosen we have a great task ahead of this country. It will not be easy but I think everyone needs to patient and understanding with each other.
The time of year is fast approaching where we will be giving thanks for the blessings that we have in our lives. I am grateful that I live in the greatest country in the world and that we have the right to vote and that I exercised that right yesterday. I am grateful for the opportunity to raise my kids and teach them that there are no limits as to what they can achieve and to encourage them to do the very best they can in everything. I am so grateful for family and for the support that we have from them. I am grateful for my husband and that he can here with us and enjoy all the fun and wonderful activities that will be coming up. I am grateful for the jobs that we have in order to provide the things that we have and need. I am grateful for old friends and for new friends and I hope that I can be the friend that they can trust and be honest with. Josh and I strive to make our house a safe place where people will feel safe being here and always welcome and never judged.
As I sit here thinking about all the wonderful things in life I am looking out my window and looking at the beautiful snow that is falling and has been falling all day. The snow is sitting on the beautiful red and yellow leaves and piling up on the roof of the houses around us. It is beautiful. I love the quiet peacefulness of the snow falling and coziness of my house and blankets. It really gets me excited for the holidays. I am hoping that I will be able to bring the spirit of service and giving to others this holiday season and to teach my kids that Christmas is more than just Santa and "getting" things.
Oh I love this time of year and I love that I was a witness to history lastnight!
