This is a picture of one of the most awesome teams in the Olympics so far this year. This race was AWESOME. I was rocking Koy when this race was going on and I was so excited and I was trying not to be loud and too excited as to not wake him up, but this was just the greatest moment so far.
We were watching the awarding of the medals and they were playing the Star Spangled Banner and Josh made the comment that he did not know how they could stand up on the stand and not break down in tears out of pride and exhilaration. I sit on the couch and cry for them. I have turned into the biggest bawl baby.
I read a post by one of my favorite bloggers, Jill. I think that she has some great ideas for getting kids involved in doing chores and so on. She is explaining how this gal was proud of herself because she didn't know how to do anything domestic. After reading this I realized that it is my job as the mom to teach my kids the basic skills in life. I knew this already, but I realized how important it is as a mom to do this and how it really is something that we HAVE to teach them.
Later on Jill also has a post about an anonymous person who left a comment regarding this post on teaching our children. She does a great job of expressing how important it is that we all are able to express our opinions but we have to understand that it is an opinion and we don't have to agree, but we don't have to be degrading. One gal who left a comment made said this "At times, people professing to be tolerant are really judgmental of others that don't share their views."
I know that there are times when people in my life have stated that they are not judging and that they are tolerant, but when it was all said and done when someone disagreed with that person's thought they were not tolerant and they were not understanding.
Now to my hot topic at the moment....you guessed it the price of GAS. I know that I am paying at least 20 cents less than my parents are in the good ol' EC, but come on why is Utah gas prices the HIGHEST in the lower 48 states! I think it is really unfair. I listen to Doug Wright and I agree with him 100% that we need to support those that have the lower prices. Go in and buy a drink or a candy bar and buy things in the gas stations of those who have the lower prices since that is where they make their money not at the gas pump. However, when you see prices the way that they are you begin to not feel bad for them. I am sure that I am going to get a lot of flack on this, but it has been stated that the average convenience store in Utah makes on average 20 cents per gallon of gas before they have to pay the credit card company. To me that is a lot if you think about how many people fill up with gas in a day and they probably fill up with 10 gallons of gas or more. They are probably taking a hit with their profits, but who isn't these days. The price of everything is going up but the income for people is not increasing, in fact the numbers today show that the income for people have actually decreased. Anyways, I could go on and on since I have a lot of opinions on this subject. ***To answer Nancy's question yesterday it was $4.03, when I drove by the 7-11 it was now $3.99 and there is a place right off the freeway on 4500 So that was $3.98 earlier this week and I am sure that it is lower now I just haven't gone to look. There is no Maverik around my place (for some odd reason they don't have Maverik on the East side and a lot of Maveriks on the West side, I have my theory but I am sure everyone can guess what that theory is) so when I see a Maverik I always check the cost, but there is a Holiday oil by Nicky's that is usually on the lower end of gas stations on the east side. For some reason Chevron's tend to be the highest (imagine that) so needless to say I REFUSE to fill up at a chevron.
Kayden has been doing much better after being sick this last weekend and all of his labs came back just fine. I do want to say that congratulate myself in that Kayden is officially potty trained!!! He even was able to run to the bathroom when he had diahrea which is something that I was very nervous about. But he did not have one accident in his pants the whole time that he was sick. He even woke up in the middle of the night a few times to poop because he did not wan to do it in his pants. So my suggestion to anyone who is wanting to potty train their child.....when they are ready you will know and don't try to push them into something that they are not ready to do. I am not claiming to be an expert, but I have two kids that I have potty trained with this method and it has been succesful.

How much are you paying in gas? We pay 3.74 or so for a gallon. Still high but it is outregeous. I only frequent the gas stations that carry cherry coke so they could hike up those prices if they want!!
Oh, you cry like your mother! I cry at the Star-Spangled Banner all the time, except at school when I am watching kids to be sure they are showing respect. But when that flag is raised...I'm gone.
Yesterday, when I heard that gas prices in California are now on an average less than Utah, I just shook my head. Like one guy on the news said, we don't even get our oil from imports! We use local oil and refine it here! Why is it so high! And then the governor came on and said he was going to "look into the situation." Gas prices in Emery County fell six cents yesterday afternoon from 4.15 to 4.09 at Maverik. Still high considering it was 4.09 on Soldier Summit, and much less in Provo last Sunday. Except for our trip to Lehi Sunday I haven't driven further than Castle Dale for weeks, so I am contributiing to the "fewer miles driven club." And we have only gone fishing twice this summer! We have just been too busy, or lazy.
Give my kids a kiss for me.
(This thing isn't letting me post right so if there are multiple posts, delete some!)
Ya I am excited for the change, however I will miss the kids that would of been returning to my class :( I told Clark that I would just have to go visit them all at their houses lol. That is so stupid about that preschool! Kayden would do so much better going daily. I have never heard of anything like that! Is it a private school or through the district? Ya it was a life saver to find out Kayden liked strawberry milk lol. that dang boy needs to eat! I remember his first day we were trying to get him to experiment with different foods to find out what he would eat, and I was kneeling down to massage his checks so he wouldnt chipmunk, and he spit pears in my face lol.... So Fun!
I know of 2 mavericks on the east side, 1 on 2700 and 700 and 1 up by fort union. But those are way too far when you just want to fill your car up! So like you said, I just go to the Holiday Oil across the street from my house because I have found that it is the cheapest. AND, the girls in there have got to know me!
Congrats to Kayden on the potty training! I noticed that he did not want to wear pull-ups when he was sick, he wanted the underwear. He would get the hang of it when he was ready!
Glad he is all better. I go in for a test on Monday to find out about this pain in my upper abdomen. I hope we can find an answer to this. It has been AWFUL!!
I love watching the swimming during the olympics. Never before have I been involved but they are so good!!
