My Political Soap Box

The great thing about this being MY blog I can write about my political views. So I am going to talk a little bit about what I am thinking of right now.

As I have said before I am an avid Doug Wright listener and I try to listen to it as much as I can. So recently I have been interested in what he is saying because of everything that is happening with the economy. I have been listening to other talk shows and hearing their opinions about what is happening. So I have many thoughts and opinions going on in my head and I am going just spill them right here and now. (On a side note having to hear a two year old whine and cry all day long can really get on your nerves, expecially when you are running off of a total of 6 hours of sleep in the past three days.)

So here are my thoughts: When it was said "it is the economy stupid!" boy did they hit it on the head. For anyone to think that there is a bigger crisis than what we are going through now is truly out of touch with the everyday hardworking American. I have listened to the Presidential Candidates the past few days and I am really impressed with Obama and Biden on this topic. I will let you know right now that I have absolutely NO faith in McCain when it comes to the economy. So on this topic my vote goes to Obama and Biden. After listening and reading up on both candidates I am really not impressed with McCain. I don't see how he understands the struggles of what the average american is going through.

On the topic of Sarah Palin. When I first talked about her I wasn't so sure, then I heard the introduction of her and her speech and I thought well.....maybe she is o.k.. Well, as the past few weeks have unfolded I am back to my original thoughts...What the #$%&*? I think that she was chosen to try and get the female voters that are undecided. I am concerned about some of the things that she has done as governor. She set up a budget for Alaska with her only advisor being her husband and one other person. She has told those who work with her and for her to send correspondence by their personal email instead of using their work email so that those records will not be able to be used if it ever came down to it. She hired many former high school classmates to hold high position in the Alaska State government, one of them was put in charge of the state agriculture department and the only experience she had in farming was a love of cows when she was younger. There are many questions about her that just have not been answered. Another thing that annoys me is that she is not out there meeting with people on her own. She is not scheduled to give any interviews and she is not allowed to take any questions from anyone and the reporters that are on her plane are not allowed to talk to her, meet with her or even see her. She basically is only allowed to say what the McCain campaign wants her to say and whatever is on the teleprompter. I think that the choice of Sarah Palin is going to backfire on McCain. I think that the more things that come out the more we will find out that she really isn't a "new breed" for the republicans.

I think that as we vote this year we need to look and hold our representative accountable for their actions. We are their employer and we need to hold them accountable for their job. We need to look at things in a non-partisan way and stop blaming one party over another. We need to stop blaming the Republican party for things and we need to stop blaming the Democratic party for things and instead take a stand and hold both parties responsible and make something happen.

I still don't know what to think. I heard some things last night about Biden that I didn't like either. And who is really telling the truth, if there is a truth? How slanted is the reporting? I listen to the news stations and I just don't know which is honest any more. I still don't know and only have a few months to decide.
