In My Humble Opinion.....

It does not seem like it has been a week since I posted. Whenever I have some time I try to catch up on my sleep so blogging just isn't getting priority at times. I have started my job at Walmart and it is going pretty good. It will be nice once I can get a full paycheck and actually bring every cent of that home to put to use.

Most of my days are filled with chasing Koy around the house keeping him from hurting himself and others, which includes the dog because Koy is really mean to him. I found I am constantly yelling "Koy NO" all day long. He is such a busy body. Kayden is so laid back and is so easily entertained. Yesterday I needed to take a nap while Koy was sleeping and Kayden sat and watched t.v. in my room while I took a nap. It was great. Lexi is doing great in school and enjoys going.

I have had a few comments left by people stating why I should or should not vote for people. For the record, I have NOT made my decision yet. Unlike other years I knew who I was going to vote for months in advance. This year is not the case. I am not going to vote for a person based on their party affiliation. I think more people need to take that advice also and look at the people listen to what they are saying and make an informed decision based on what the candidates are saying and not based on a party affiliation. I think our government would be better off if more people did that instead of voting party lines, or voting for the same old person simply because they don't know any better.

Here are the things that I am looking for....my main one is "the economy stupid" this is the biggest issue that I think the President will have to face during their term. Right now I do not think that either one of the candidates have really touched on this topic the way that I would like to hear (notice I said the word "I" for some people that question has been answered but for me this is not the case). I want to know what they are going to do about energy for the future. I think that alternative energy is needed and will benefit us in the future, but I also think that we need to start NOW on something and I think that drilling for more oil here in the U.S is needed at the same time that we look at other energy sources. (I think that the fact that McCain and Palin are for oil drilling, which is what my understanding is right now of their stand, is a good thing but I want to hear more...) Other things I want to hear about housing issues, job opportunity and growth, health care, Social Security and other things that are going to affect us here at home. I know that foreign relations are important but I think that we have a lot of things that are facing us here at home that have not been addressed in the past and that is going to come back and hurt us in the future if we don't start doing something about it. One thing that frustrates me is how much aide we give to people to help them lead better lives but yet we don't do enough to take care of people in our own country.

I was watching "The View" yesterday and they brought up some very interesting points to discuss. The first one is are we being unfair toward Sarah Palin as a mother because of her daughter being 17 and pregnant than we would be toward a father in a similar situation. We don't question the father's in their parenting role only the mother's. I do feel like it is a little unfair that the media is doing this. I agree that her children's lives are off limits and I think Obama and Biden did a great job in saying what they said about leaving her children out of things.

Another thing that was discussed was one of the ladies thought that it was unfair to the boyfriend that the daughter was going to have the baby. She felt sorry for him and stated that it wasn't fair to him for the daughter to decide to have the baby and to get married. While she was saying this I was in shock because who is she to say that this boy did not agree to any of this. He had a role to play in her getting pregnant, he needs to take the responsibility also for his actions and not just her. She stated how it has ruined his life to for any future going to school, finding a good paying job and being required to raise a family at such a young age. Again, this young man made a decision also to perform adult activities and if he is going to make that choice then he is going to need to accept the outcome of those choices. This is a decision that the family has made and we need to allow them to make the decision that is best for them. Yeah, we can have differing opinions, but it is not our place to tell them that they made the wrong decision because we do not know the whole story.

Another point that was discussed was about the ability, once again, of a woman to be able to "have it all". This is something that I mentioned before was about how Sarah Palin has little kids and her influence is needed in the home. I think it is fine if the mom works and the father is able to stay at home. I think that as long as the children have their parents (and it doesn't matter which one) as the main caregivers they are better off then having somebody else raise them. Sarah Palin has the best situation (if she becomes VP) she has a good paying job and her husband can stay home with the kids, she will be able to still spend time with her kids and she has public housing that is half way decent!

And finally it was mentioned about how Sarah Palin did not think sex education should be in the school (now this is just paraphrasing because I don't know the whole issue around this.) It has been said that had this been taught in school maybe her daughter would not be pregnant. Whoopi made the point that it doesn't matter if it taught at home, at church, or at school a 17 year old is going to do what they want. We can teach them until we are blue in the face but they still will do what they want. (Isn't it funny that the people who want women to be able to make their own choices do not want to extend that ability to our own kids) Joy (who is big time Democrat) said that if this was in the school maybe it would have made an impact. Elisabeth Hasselbeck (who is big time Republican) made the point that Al Gore's son was arrested for Marijuana and a DUI and it is taught in the schools and he didn't listen to what he was being taught. She proved that it doesn't matter what is taught in schools kids are still going to do waht they want to do.

Those are my thoughts right now as we embark on this election year. I am going to pay close attention to what is going on and really listen to what each of them have to say and look at things openly. I encourage everyone to look at the issues and to not look at if they have a "D" or a "R" behind their names.

maybe I have a different opinion than others because I was also "taught" to not get pregnant but I did. I was taught differntly. It is a known fact that at least 80 percent of teens are having sex. She was just unfortunate enough to be caught and the she got it splashed across the tv screen.

I say let it be. That isn't the issue at hand.

I was listening to Larry King Live after Palin's speech. He had the Democratic rebuttal people on. I couldn't believe what one lady said at the end, and she left him speechless. They were talking about teaching abstinance in the schools and how it didn't work for Palin's daughter. This lady said that was all a good reason to allow gays (yes, she said the "g" word) to marry because they don't have children out of wedlock! The camera moved quickly to Mr. King and he sat there with his mouth open, totally speechless. What dumb reasoning. That remark sure didn't make Democrates look very smart, at least that one.
And I'm still not sure whom I am voting for yet either. Got to go listen to McCain...but had to take a break because we were visited by the Stake Presidency/High Council again.

I am really impressed at how you follow politics. I am terrible at it. Reading your blog inspires me to be better.
