Orangeville Days and Transplant Clinic

Since my last post I need to update on a few things.

We had Orangeville Days this past weekend. I don't "get" Orangeville Days. When I grew up we celebrated the 24th of July. That is when we had the big town celebration. Dynamite would go off about every 15 to 30 minutes waking everybody up so that they could get to the park for breakfast, then the parade and then games in the park followed up by the Humphrey Brother's Lamb Fry and then fireworks at the dog pound. We celebrated the pioneers entering the state. It is a state holiday that everybody pretty much celebrates. It was just tradition and what was done.
Orangeville City then changed things about 13 years ago and decided to have their own celebration separate from the 24th of July. My feelings are that if you are a new town and trying to start new traditions that is great, but Orangeville is not a small town and they already had a tradition and this new tradition just isn't working. This year the celebration was on June 7 and it was FREEZING COLD! Not very many people came out to celebrate and I heard a lot of people saying that the reason why they didn't come out and celebrate was because it wasn't on the 24th of July. (However, these people are the first to complain about this but the last to actually do something to help and make sure that something happens on the 24th and leave it up to everyone else to do.)

There was a parade that everyone froze at, games that the kids played on but got sick later because they were out in the cold. The only things that worked out were the Guitar Hero competitions because they were held indoor and the Humphrey Bros. Lamb Fry because it had warmed up a little by then. I don't think that they had a lot of people attend the Lamb Fry even with the weather being decent by then but they had a good crowd.

Here are some pictures from the celebration.

Here is the start of the parade

Here are the activities and games that they had that we froze at!

These next pictures I get really weepy over. These pictures are of Kayden running in a foot race against kids his own age. He did so good! The year that he should have been crawling he couldn't even crawl, the next year that he should have been running he was only crawling and last year he wasn't really up to doing much since it was so soon after his transplant and he was so little. But this year he ran the race and he did great! I was crying just watching him achieve something that at one point I did not know if it was going to happen.

Here are some other photos for your enjoyment:

Here is President Stilson and Dwayne Story cooking our favorite meal.....Lamb!

Koy thought the band was great and would just sit there and watch them play. He is the old man groupie.

And last but not least, the Humphrey's Brothers Lamb Fry. This is one of the things we look forward to all year. This is the best lamb ever made!!!!

Kayden had transplant clinic on Monday and he is doing wonderful. Everyone was amazed at how well he is doing. He has gained a little weight and he has grown taller. They say he is the poster child for transplant patients. He has not had any major illnesses, has not got EBV or CMV or any BK viruses. He is just doing wonderful. We now are trying to potty train! That is another post that will be coming.
